Hi, I'm Jim Dika.  I started my computer repair business in 1988 from my home in downtown Harbor Springs, MI.  After 8 years at my Conway Road location I came back home.  I'm here fixing computers 5 to 7 days a week in my shop, and I'd be happy to take a look at your computer if you're having troubles.

I don't stock computers, but I help clients purchase computers on a regular basis.  I sell them at cost, and I just charge for my time.  I like Dell, I like Apple, but I'll help you with any brand you're interested in.

My 22 years of computer troubleshooting experience allow me to out-smart the viruses, and get your computer back to you working better than ever.  When the problem is operator error, I'll help to educate you in a friendly manner.

Whether it's the Blue Screen of Death, or a crashed hard drive on your MacBook Pro, I'm here with the experience and expertise to fix the problems that computers run into.  Call me anytime, to ask a question, or to schedule an appointment, in-shop or on-site.

Jim's Three Rules

1. Keep Windows up-to-date.
2. Keep your anti-virus software up-to-date.
3. Don't get tricked into clicking on something
    that will infect you.

CURRENTLY OFFERING BUSINESS MANAGER JOB OPPORTUNITY!  CLICK HERE

Computer repair is an ever-changing business.  Viruses and other bugs continue to be a major concern.  My three rules are simple, and therefore should be learned and understood.  The "hoax" infections pretend to scan your hard drive, then tell you that you need to click on the Yes button to fix the found problems.  This is a hoax!  Don't do it!  Instead, turn off your computer by any means possible, immediately.  After rebooting, scan your hard drive with your existing, up-to-date, anti-virus protection.  Hopefully you'll find that you are not infected.  But if you are, and if you need help, give me a call.  I'm good with all of this stuff.  I'll clean up your system and get it up-to-date.  I'll help it to run better and faster, and I'll teach you a few things in the process.  Don't ignore bugs on your computer!  They'll only get worse, and they'll become more difficult to remove.
Computers are wonderful for storing data that you care about.  Photos of the kids are just one of the many things you want to store, manage, use, and keep safe.  Make sure you burn a DVD every few months with your most treasured data.

One of my favorite uses of my home computers is recorded TV.  I use my main home computer as a TV and a DVR (Digital Video Recorder).  Using Windows Media Center software, I'm recording hockey games without doing anything -- the computer goes to the web to check on the TV schedules, and it records and stores hours of video on my hard drive.  I can watch the beginning of a game while the end of the game is still being recorded, or I can take my laptop onto the porch to watch recorded shows there, without wires, and while fast-forwarding through the commercials.  With my Slingbox I can watch live TV on my computers anywhere in the world, if I'm connected to high-speed internet.  You can too!  I can come on-site to help you set up your home for remote viewing.  I can program your remotes, or I can pipe computer music to your home stereo.  I can teach you how to use all of the technology in your home that you're struggling with.  I'll document everything with detailed instructions, because I know you'll forget.  Give me a call today and let me help you turn your home into a high-tech home.

Online backup is one way of saving your important data to a safe
place.  It's slow, and it may miss much of your important stuff, but
it's a start.  Many online backup sites are expensive.  This one isn't.
10GB costs only $9/month.  5GB costs only $6.45.  Personal use
is even less (2GB is free).  If you try it here they
will send me money, so please give it a try. ==>

I'm still recommending Dell because it's
a great company with a great product.  HP is the
other "value line" that I like to recommend, but
Dell is still my favorite computer company.

Apple's iPads, iPods, iPhone, Macbooks, and iMacs exemplify
superior quality and design.  Macs cost more, and do less,
but they work better, with no viruses.  The "feel" can't be beat.
