Hi, I'm Jim Dika. I've been repairing and
troubleshooting computers and computer equipment in the Harbor Springs /
Petoskey area for over 30 years. I'm continuously keeping up with
the technologies, and I'm still working daily to keep my
customers happy with their Windows computers, Macs, iPads, iPhones,
Android phones and tablets, and other tech stuff in the
home and office.
I'm very experienced with Windows and its difficulties, and I'm also very experienced with Apple
computers, including their problems. I'll work on
other home electronics as well, such as TVs, home
theatres, and security cameras. I can run wires,
and I can mount big screen TVs. I install and
manage small business networks, and I've trained
numerous businesses on their Quickbooks accounting
software, and other software. I'm also an
authorized Viasat Satellite Internet dealer and
installer, for those located farther off the grid.
While I don't stock new computers, I do help my
customers frequently with the purchase and setup of new computers
-- Windows and Mac.
I've found that getting a new Windows computer to do everything as well as the
old one is tricky, and sometimes impossible. Transferring data, installing
software, and removing junk are just some of the
actions I'd perform to help get your new computer
running its best.
Viruses, trojans, and worms aren't as common as they
once were, but it's important to have up-to-date
anti-virus software installed and maintained on your
Windows computers. Scams carried out on PCs and Macs are
now very common! Don't call that 800 number if your
browser stops working! If something seems even a little
suspicious, don't trust it!
If
your older computer is currently giving you grief, I may recommend
purchasing a new computer. But sometimes the old
computer is more familiar, and having it fixed is less time-consuming and intimidating than
learning a new computer. I think good computers can last
7-10 years or more, so if yours is less than 5 it may be
worth saving.
Email
issues can cause major problems. Whether it's
Outlook, Mac Mail, or browser-based mail, I can get all
of your devices syncing as they're supposed to, and I
can show you the best ways to access and manage your
mail and other info.
So
if you're in need of help with purchasing, installing,
configuring, or training on your new equipment, or if you're having
troubles with your existing computer or tech gadget please give
me a call. Whether it's the Blue Screen of Death,
or a crashed hard drive on your MacBook Pro, I'm here
with the experience and expertise to fix the problems
that computers run into. Call me anytime, to ask a
question, or to schedule an appointment, in-shop or
on-site.
